Emerge & See is an Australian registered peer-led not-for-profit charity dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of current and former Emergency Services workers and volunteers across NSW and the ACT. Founded by the lived and living experience of service, trauma, treatment, recovery and growth, our mission is to provide free, confidential, peer-led support, education, and community connection to those who serve and protect our communities, often at great personal sacrifice.
We understand the unique challenges that first responders face, including the trauma, stress, and isolation that can follow exposure to critical incidents. At Emerge & See, we help individuals reclaim their lives, keep families together, find hope, and connect with others who truly understand.
We have grown from a team of 2 to a team of 25 passionate serving and medically retired Emergency Service workers and volunteers. Emerge & See allows us to continue our service, without the uniform.
Emerge & See supports over 3500 injured Emergency Service workers and volunteers and provides services that support our 300,000 NSW and ACT Emergency Service workers and volunteers by connecting them with destigmatised mental health conversations

Why a PIE IN THE FACE FOR PTSD
We launched PIE4PTSD in 2025 as a fun, engaging, light hearted and meaningful way to raise awareness about Emergency Service PTSD and SMASH THE STIGMA surrounding mental health in emergency services. The campaign invites participants to take a “pie in the face” to spark conversations, show solidarity, and fundraise for life-changing mental health programs.
Mental illness, like a pie to the face, can often feel unexpected and messy.
By turning heads, and pies we’re encouraging open dialogue about trauma, connection, and recovery. All funds raised through PIE4PTSD and the Pie of Origin support Emerge & See’s peer-led services, ensuring that no emergency worker or volunteer has to face PTSD or psychological injury alone.
Together, we can laugh, learn, and smash the stigma, one pie at a time.
